| RULES REGARDING EXCHANGE OF BOOKS |

Magazines, journals, rare and valuable volumes, dictionaries, reference books, and other books from reference section will not be issued outside the library. |

A member could trace the title he requires, with the help of title author and subject catalogues but he will have to mention the details on the "Demand Slip" and hand it over to the employee on duty. He will help the member to get the book. |

A member would be given a book in exchange of his I-Card only. On returning the book the I-Card will be returned to him. But if he fails to return the book in the stipulated time, he will have to bear the late-fee and the postage charge spent over he will be given his membership I-Card. |

Each member will have to check the physical condition of the book on the issue counter. If the book is found damaged or torned out, the librarian or the staffer on duty must be informed accordingly, failing to which the member would be held responsible for the unacceptable condition of the book at the time of returning it. And in that case he will have to compensate the damage as decided by the librarian. |

Each book, must be submitted to the staffer on the exchange counter only; and if it is found in a damaged condition, the member will have to compensate the damage or to supply a new copy of the same book. On doing so, he will be allowed to take away the damaged copy along with him. |

In case of loss of book by the member, he will either have to replace the book or to remit the double price of the book lost. |

In case of loss or damage to a book, which belongs to a series, by the member, he will have to replace the book if separate volume is available or should replace the entire series, or must remit the price of the series. |

A member who has gone out of situation, would be allowed to renew the books issued on his I-Card, without showing them on the counter. He will have to inform accordingly to the librarian by post. But such an extension would be granted only once. The librarian is authorized to cancel the extension/renewal. |

The librarian may ask the member to bring back the book once issued at any time. |

No member can give his I-Card to another person for the latter's use. In such a case his membership will be cancelled. |

A member will have to return the book during 14 days of the date of issue, but he cannot return the book once issued, on the same day. If he fails to observe the date of return, he will have to remit the late fee of Rs.1/- per day. However, the total late fee will not exceed the price of the book. |

Change of addresses, if any must be conveyed to the library within a week's time. |
